The Liebster Award

Ehn, don't get too excited. It's not an award award. The Liebster award is a way to recognize or discover new bloggers and welcome them to the blogosphere.

The beautiful Ifeoma of WhoWhatFab graciously nominated me and I'm expected to answer the following questions. So, here goes;

What are you most grateful for?
I'm most grateful and thankful for life, for love and for happiness.

What inspired you to start your blog?
I've always loved writing. My mum tells me stories of how much I wrote when I was a kid. Sometimes, just scribbling unintelligible words.
I've also almost always loved fashion. I figured a fashion blog would be the perfect way to marry both interests and voila! DiveIntoMauve.

What three words best describe you?
Funny, Hilarious and Witty.
No, I'm not lying.

Do you get writers' block and if so, how do you deal with it?
More like, do I ever NOT get writers' block. I had one last week, I'm having one right now and I'm pretty certain I'll still have one next week.
I actually deal with it by just letting it be. It goes away when I'm not feeling any pressure. But, I always carry a notebook around because eyan le ni ideas anytime.

What is the worst outfit I can never see you in?
Honestly, I can't say never. I'm pro-comfortable fashion which means I would almost always pick comfort over aesthetics. So, chances are you're very likely to find me dressed like a hobo most times.

Any big plans for your blog? What are they?
Yes! I hope to land a couple or more collaborations/features and sponsors in the nearest future and hopefully, make the blog a brand sometime soon.

What is your dream place to be proposed to?
Haha, Definitely some place very private and intimate. No fanfare. Just somewhere special to the both of us.
Bae, you are reading this right????

What is your dream job?
Has to be something in economic development. I have to put this B.sc(hons) to use sometime.

What are your favorite fashion bloggers?
I actually do not know a lot of fashion bloggers. But, I love reading StylePantryTheDaleighCassieDaves, JTO and WhoWhatFab

What challenges have you faced since you started blogging?
Basically, I've struggled with carving a niche for myself. There are already a lot of fashion bloggers out there. I hope I can bring something very different and refreshing.

1, 2, Ways To Style Your White Button-down Shirt

"Fashion is not necessarily about labels or brands. It's about something else that comes from within you" - Ralph Lauren
I feel the need to apologize in advance for the number of Ankara outfits that you'll find here. After garri (well, any form of swallow really) and soup, my next favorite thing is Ankara, closely followed by retro prints.
In this post, we're styling a basic white button-down shirt in two refreshing ways.
Now, a white button-down shirt is a wardrobe essential. Like a little black dress or a pair of very flattering jeeans, it is a fashion must-have.
It is chic through all seasons, for all ages and it works for about just every event.
For the first look, I tucked my white button-down shirt into an Ankara pencil, midi length skirt for a tailored appeal.
This simple ensemble can work for the office on a Monday or a Friday as the case may be.
Aiming for a more casual feel in the second look, I decided to pair my white button-down shirt with a pair of…

Dressing Appropriately for Your Body Type

"The dress should follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress" - Hubert de Givenchy
Hello everyone! Long time no see. I'm sorry, life has been, well, life.
Over the months, I've gotten E-mails with questions in the line of "Oh this looks so good, do you think it would look good on me too". Then, there's my friend and flat mate Ehimen who doesn't wear any colors except black because she thinks they''ll make her look big. I thought about these and I decided to put together a little guide to help you dress appropriately for your body type.
Now, essentially, there are four body types; the hour glass, the apple, the banana and the pear.

THE HOURGLASS You know you're hourglass when you're extremely curvy with a tiny waist.
Work towards highlighting your curves and not hiding them. You can achieve this via belts.
For bottoms, wear a lot of pencil skirts and wide-legged pants.

Wrap dresses are perfect.
For tops, …

3, 4 Ways To Style Your White Button-down Shirt

"Elegance is not standing out but being remembered"- Giorgio Armani
Because 1, 2 Ways To Style Your White Button-down Shirt was such a favorite, we're back with another one!
It can not be over emphasized. A white button-down shirt is the real deal. Its tailored shape brings elegance to both casual and formal ensembles alike.
There really aren't a lot of wardrobe essentials that we lean on more than this statement piece. I know I said that about the basic white tee and maybe a couple of other fashion items, but stay with me here. Okay?
This time I decided to take it up a notch (or I'd like to think that's what I did).
In the first look which is my favorite of the two, I have on an Ankara pinafore over my white button-down shirt. This had me reminiscing on my secondary school days  Funny enough, I couldn't wait to graduate from Junior Secondary just so I could get out of wearing pinafores. Now they're stylish. Yay! Fashion.

For the second look which is…
