Monochromes - Again

Vintage with Sarah Audu X Giveaway Winner

"The joy of dressing is an art" - Diana Vreeland
Hi everyone! In my New Year Post, I promised you some collaborations eh? I'm making good on that promise so here's what Sarah Audu of and I got up to last weekend.
Also, the winner of our last week's giveaway will be announced in this post, so stay with me.
Sarah and I had actually been in talks for a collaboration since last year but for some reason, our schedules never quite agreed.
Last weekend, our stars finally aligned and we decided to show you how to wear Vintage like a style star.
We met up somewhere around Maitama District Hospital because we wanted to use the telephone booth there for props. But true to Abuja's faux airs and graces, we were told off from taking pictures there. We drove around for a bit until we found a cluster of foliage that worked just fine.
Between posing and generally getting the pictures to work, Sarah and I had quite a nice time hanging out. Sort of fel…

Bell Bottoms & Bell Sleeves X Giveaway

"Life isn't perfect, but your outfit can be"
Before we begin, the Ankara set featured in this post is up for grabs. The rules are embedded somewhere in this post, so stay with me.
Second and third on the list of trends(first being the slip dress) that I hope stay through 2017 are definitely bell bottoms and bell sleeves.
Bell bottoms, also known as flares in some circles have been around for quite a while. They moved into mainstream fashion in the 70s after Sonny and Cher wore them on their television show.

In 1996, they were reintroduced in different variations like the boot-cut and in 2016, they came back better with even more variations like the high-low bell bottoms.
For this post, I decided to style my Ankara bell bottom pants with an off the shoulder bell-sleeved top. Both pieces are actually very easy to style; as a two-piece like I did here, or as separates paired with other pieces. In as much as they're very eccentric and not your typical go-to pieces, they&…

The Slip Dress (Night to Day)

"Fashion should be a form of escapism not a form of imprisonment" - Alexander McQueen
I don't know which fashionista made wearing bed/night wear as an outer garment cool, but I'm thankful to you sister! I'm all here for anything at all that is pro-comfortable fashion.
The slip dress, (a very welcome throwback to the 70s and 90s) is slinky and very sexy. My style is not exactly sexy as you might have noticed by now, but variety is the spice of life. Eh?

This is definitely one of my favorite trends of 2016 and I hope it stays through the better part of 2017.
In this post, I tried to channel my inner Riri (I'm not sure you guys know, but I absolutely adore Rihanna. Can you blame me? The girl is perfect!) by transforming what would otherwise be a night wear into a funky day wear.
For the first look, I dressed-up my slip dress with a pair of black heels. Naturally, I'd campaign for a lot of accessories to bring out this look: a distinct necklace or choker, bra…

I know I'm awfully late with this post but better late than never right?

I love new years! I love the feeling of starting over, the feeling of a fresh page or a blank slate as the case may be.
2016 was a bit of a roller coaster year for me with some very high highs and a couple of very low lows. However, it is a year that I'm extremely thankful for solely for the fact that it taught me strength that I didn't realize I was capable of.

How did you find 2016?
I'm one of those cheesy people who always makes New Year Resolutions. It doesn't matter that I don't do some of them at all or that I give up on others well before mid-year, I don't let that deter my January 1st 'New year, new me' convictions.

Top of that this year is that I'm making a conscious effort to take things very easy. To be less anxious, to worry less, to complain less and to just breathe! So far, quite good!
Do you make new year resolutions? What are some of yours?
Currently, I'…
