"Fashion is like eating. You shouldn't stick with the same menu" - Kenzo Takada
I remember the days when wearing stripes-on-stripes was nothing short of a fashion faux-pas. Oh the good ol' days!  Now, it is perfectly okay to pair a candy-colored bottoms with candy-colored tops and people would absolutely love it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I absolutely love the trend.

As a matter of fact, I'm ecstatic that we have come to a point where prints do not need to be worn exclusively in one direction or paired with the usual basic colors. Look at all the fun we had been missing out on.

For this post, I paired my candy-colored striped pants with a candy-colored striped shirt. For a minute, I was worried that I was stretching it but I was quite impressed with the outcome.
I must say, however that I haven't had the confidence to wear this anywhere yet. Apparently, I do not like attention like that. Who would have thought.

The truth about ensembles…

Twenty Six

No, I'm not twenty-six  and no I'm not telling my age. A woman doesn't what? Aha!

It's however my birthday today and also a year of almost consistent blogging. Remember our Relaunch and Birthday post here?
I can't say that it has been easy. It hasn't. There have been days when I've wanted to just quit the blog but then I'd remember how much fulfillment it brings me to write so I'd get back on my computer and apologize for being MIA.
I used to think writing the posts would be the hard part but not at all. It's the publicizing that gets me worked up. The consistent "Please Read and Share"s; then looking at the views and wondering if the work I put in is worth it at all.
Hopefully, the time will come when the views will be commensurate to the work that the team puts in. Amen? Amen!
The wonderful people over at sent me this really lovely skirt and the moment I saw it, I knew it was going to be my birthday outfit.

Styling Pleats

"Fashion is what you're offered four times a year by designers. Style is what you choose" - Lauren Hutton

I'll actually never cease to marvel at how old trends just casually make their way back in. At this point, I think I'll save my kids the stress by keeping all the pieces that are in-vogue now.
I remember the first time I tried to wear a pleated skirt. One of those really old-fashioned ones with very sharp knife pleats. My mum wouldn't have it. She just went on and on about how very unflattering it was because it was from her era. She insisted I wasn't leaving the house dressed like that and even offered me money to shop new skirts provided I took that one off. I grudgingly did.
In retrospect, maybe that particular skirt was a tad too old-fashioned. Thankfully, accordion folds are no longer dreary and boring. From skinny knife pleats to wide paneled pleats, there are so many cool and fun ways to style them now.
For this post, I styled an Ankara pleate…
