Monochromes - Again

Twenty Six

No, I'm not twenty-six  and no I'm not telling my age. A woman doesn't what? Aha!

It's however my birthday today and also a year of almost consistent blogging. Remember our Relaunch and Birthday post here?

I can't say that it has been easy. It hasn't. There have been days when I've wanted to just quit the blog but then I'd remember how much fulfillment it brings me to write so I'd get back on my computer and apologize for being MIA.

I used to think writing the posts would be the hard part but not at all. It's the publicizing that gets me worked up. The consistent "Please Read and Share"s; then looking at the views and wondering if the work I put in is worth it at all.

Hopefully, the time will come when the views will be commensurate to the work that the team puts in. Amen? Amen!

The wonderful people over at sent me this really lovely skirt and the moment I saw it, I knew it was going to be my birthday outfit.

Paired with a white button-down shirt and an Ankara corset, I couldn't possibly look any more birthday-ish. You can find on Instagram, here. Their simple minimalist appeal is such a refreshing delight.
I decided to do something a bit different from the usual. I mean, everyone already knows how to style a circle skirt or a corset right? Yes. So here's a TMI post on 10 things you most likely didn't know about me.

1) My name is Anthonia guys. Really it is. "Mousy" is fine, "Tee" is fine, "Village Girl" is fine too but my folks christened me "Anthonia". Well, "Marie-Anthonia" because you know, "Anthonia" isn't long enough. Now, I might not necessarily know you're referring to me when you say "Anthonia", but hey! You can try.

2) For some weird reason. I call my mum "Aunty". Long story but what matters is how I actually feel about her and not some moniker. Right? Right?

3) I really, really love reading. I go through an average of three books a month. For leisure though. Ask me to read for a test and we will fight. I hear my love for reading comes from the fact that my mum used to read to me even before I could talk.

4) My favorite food is any swallow ( well, except amala) and Egusi soup. I can't go two days without swallow. I don't know what would happen if I did, but let's not tempt anybody please.

5) I've been in love all of two times. Now, I know some people that would disagree with this statement, but I've said what I said.

6) I haven't always been enthusiastic about fashion. There was a time when my mum used to offer to pay me to get me to wear girly clothes and accessories. I talked all about that in my first post, here.

7) I don't like water. I don't know what this is about, but there isn't an amount of money that you could pay me to actually get beyond the stairs of a pool.

8) I'm such a morning person, it's amazing.  The latest I'd wake up is probably 5:30A.M. Waking up is not the problem, it's the getting out of bed that is. However, I'm at my happiest in the mornings. Except on Fridays. I 'm happy all day on Fridays.

9) I'm not particularly outdoorsy. Usually, this is hard to believe because my personality is bubbly. But really. Stop inviting me to things, I've run out of excuses to use. I just want to go home and press my phone.

10) I talk a lot with a lot of gesticulations. I think this is the reason I've been unable to put on any significant weight. I talk out all the eba and soup that I eat.

So there people!

I'm trying not to think of how old I am today. So don't remind me!

Until Next Time,
It's Tee

  1. Lmaooo. I don't think people realise how hilarious you are. Happy birthday Tee. I love you!!!!!!

  2. Lovely post, especially like how you managed to tame the bright green on the corset

  3. Happy birthday darling!

  4. Happy birthday love, you look amazing.
Haha i can totally relate to no 9, i just want to stay home honestly.
I had your name down in my head as village geh for the longest time lol

1, 2, Ways To Style Your White Button-down Shirt

"Fashion is not necessarily about labels or brands. It's about something else that comes from within you" - Ralph Lauren
I feel the need to apologize in advance for the number of Ankara outfits that you'll find here. After garri (well, any form of swallow really) and soup, my next favorite thing is Ankara, closely followed by retro prints.
In this post, we're styling a basic white button-down shirt in two refreshing ways.
Now, a white button-down shirt is a wardrobe essential. Like a little black dress or a pair of very flattering jeeans, it is a fashion must-have.
It is chic through all seasons, for all ages and it works for about just every event.
For the first look, I tucked my white button-down shirt into an Ankara pencil, midi length skirt for a tailored appeal.
This simple ensemble can work for the office on a Monday or a Friday as the case may be.
Aiming for a more casual feel in the second look, I decided to pair my white button-down shirt with a pair of…

3, 4 Ways To Style Your White Button-down Shirt

"Elegance is not standing out but being remembered"- Giorgio Armani
Because 1, 2 Ways To Style Your White Button-down Shirt was such a favorite, we're back with another one!
It can not be over emphasized. A white button-down shirt is the real deal. Its tailored shape brings elegance to both casual and formal ensembles alike.
There really aren't a lot of wardrobe essentials that we lean on more than this statement piece. I know I said that about the basic white tee and maybe a couple of other fashion items, but stay with me here. Okay?
This time I decided to take it up a notch (or I'd like to think that's what I did).
In the first look which is my favorite of the two, I have on an Ankara pinafore over my white button-down shirt. This had me reminiscing on my secondary school days  Funny enough, I couldn't wait to graduate from Junior Secondary just so I could get out of wearing pinafores. Now they're stylish. Yay! Fashion.

For the second look which is…

Dressing Appropriately for Your Body Type

"The dress should follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress" - Hubert de Givenchy
Hello everyone! Long time no see. I'm sorry, life has been, well, life.
Over the months, I've gotten E-mails with questions in the line of "Oh this looks so good, do you think it would look good on me too". Then, there's my friend and flat mate Ehimen who doesn't wear any colors except black because she thinks they''ll make her look big. I thought about these and I decided to put together a little guide to help you dress appropriately for your body type.
Now, essentially, there are four body types; the hour glass, the apple, the banana and the pear.

THE HOURGLASS You know you're hourglass when you're extremely curvy with a tiny waist.
Work towards highlighting your curves and not hiding them. You can achieve this via belts.
For bottoms, wear a lot of pencil skirts and wide-legged pants.

Wrap dresses are perfect.
For tops, …
